Jasper is an aggregate of microgranular quartz and/or chalcedony and other mineral phases. This opaque, impure variety of silica is most commonly red, yellow, brown or green in color; and rarely blue. The redish color in rainbow jasper is due to iron inclusions.

As a healing stone, red jaspers are gently stimulating. They are said to be grounding and bring problems to light. Red jasper makes an excellent worry stone.

The heart has long been used as a symbol to refer to the spiritual, emotional, moral and in the past, the intellectual core of a human being. As the heart was once widely believed to be the seat of the human soul, the word heart continues to be used poetically to refer to the soul and stylized depictions of hearts are used as prevalent symbols representing love.
